Impromptu Pumpkin Halloween Decorations
I recently bought scissors for R to use at home (safety ones) after I saw that they were using them in school. So one day while we were playing with paper and she was having fun cutting, I decided we could make pumpkins that she could decorate!
‘
So I started randomly drawing pumpkins and cutting them out. While I did that, she kept herself busy cutting the scraps of paper into MICROscraps of paper…
‘
Then I brought out googly eyes left over from her “make your own elmo” activity for her birthday party, foam stickers for noses, and puffy paint for everything else.
‘
She had lots of fun putting the foam stickies on the backs of the eyes and then putting the eyes on the pumpkins. Although it was a little challenging for me to control my “Type A-ness” and let her just do whatever she wanted, it ended up being lots of fun!
‘
And this is what we came up with!
Once I drew eyelashes on one pumpkin, she had fun drawing them on most of the others too.
‘
Of course, no activity is complete without throwing some stickers on here and there…
‘
Makes for a fun last minute decoration for the house…
why don’t you try it!?
What a great idea! I keep looking for activities to keep my 3 year old busy, this just might do the trick. Speaking of eyelashes – R has a pretty impressive set, herself!!
thanks! yes definitely try it! let me know how it goes!
This type of cut and paste is always beautiful when little ones do it . She looks so intent on her art.
I agree! SHe definitely was intent – you couldn’t pull her away from this for anything!
