My new “baby”

April 9, 2011

I got a new lens this week: the Lensbaby Composer + the Sweet 35 optic to go with it. This is my first lensbaby – I felt like I wanted something fun to play with – particularly when it comes to depth of field. But I didn’t want to get into the complicated and expensive tilt shift lenses right now.

I had a little bit of time to experiment yesterday, and here are some of the results. It is definitely different shooting totally manually – both exposure and focus! Good practice!

Beautiful shots! I love the daffodils; the yellow is so vibrant. And the DOF is great in these shots. Have lots of fun with the new lens!

Fantastic shots! Especially since you’re just learning how to use it. My favorite is the second daffodil. I really like the bokeh and DOF on that one.

I was just reading about the Lensbaby Composer. I am so looking forward to jumping into the DSLR pool someday. Soon, I hope.

thanks robin! the bokeh is definitely awesome with this. more skewed then with “normal” lenses, but it seems pretty interesting so far.

Cool shots! I love the way the colours of the flowers pop out of the blurry background!
