Daily Glimpse #14

A friend of mine just brought a beautiful, perfect baby boy into the world, and I made these stuffed blocks for him to play with! I was tempted to use fabric that I thought was really cute and “baby like” – but I went with these black and white patters since babies cant really see colors but are drawn to patterns. I used felt to applique his initials onto the blocks too!
You can check out my previous post on making stuffed blocks for info on where I found the tutorial to make them!
Daily Glimpse 13 – stuffed love
I made a stuffed toy for R this weekend, and yesterday morning shortly after I gave it to her, she burped up some milk all over it. So I washed it and stuck it in the dryer. Before I put it in however, she gave it a hug, a kiss, and said “Love you.” Then she pulled up a stool so she could watch it go “round and round” in the dryer.
Wish I had a better camera on hand when I took this, but you get the idea.

Photography Giveaway!
Today is exciting for me, because one of my new friends from the blog-o-sphere is doing a giveaway on her blog for one of my photographs! It is so fun to see them up and to see that people like them since usually they wile away their time in cyberspace on my hard drive. Dacia has a very interesting blog that is always from to read and is inspiring to say the least. So check out her blog and the giveaway here!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Water
It may not look like it, but this is a picture of water running through Yellowstone National Park. The colors come from the different bacteria that grow in different temperature water.

The Daily Glimpse Project #9 – “weeds”
maybe not from yesterday, but recent enough
this is a picture of “weeds” from my yard – hah!
if these are weeds, then i like weeds =)
even if only for the following 2 reasons:
1) it is incredibly warming to my heart to watch R run up to them and try to blow off the petal, and
2) they make great photography subjects!
The Daily Glimpse Project #8 – A fun way to save gas
Yesterday’s DGP (Daily Glimpse Project) moment was fun =) On my way home from work, there is a street that is mostly downhill. So I decided to put the car in neutral and cruise down for the fun of it. It was awesome! I went probably 2 miles without putting the car in gear and stayed around 40mph the whole time (that was WITH pressing the breaks!). Each time I thought the car would start to slow down too much, I was surprised and it would make it over the hill only to speed up again – causing a fresh wave of exhilaration. Well, ok, maybe that word is overkill. But it WAS fun =)
As I write this, and i read the phrase “over the hill” I can’t help but think that this is probably a good parallel to aging. Essentially: Put things in neutral and enjoy the ride. And just when you think things are going to start slowing down, you’ll be surprised at how they speed up again!
Funny how sometimes you start a post with one thing in mind and end up with another! That’s the cool thing about writing =)
